The Resource Centre at the Library has DOUBLED in size!
Grande Prairie has never had such a comprehensive selection of French pedagogical material and French books for public use. Over 10 000 titles are available in French! If you haven’t been to the public library lately, it’s time to check out the excellent selection of new resources that are on the shelves. Almost all of the resources ordered last year are now available for teachers to sign out. Remember to check out the FOUR different sections of the library when you come in. The areas are:
French Teacher Resource Section
Thousands of recommended immersion, Francophone and FSL teaching materials are found there. This section is continuously improved and maintained.
French Adult Collection
Over 2000 titles of fiction and non-fiction works make this fabulous section the envy of many libraries.
French Teen Collection
A growing and improved selection for students over 12 is now found in the teen section of the library
French Children’s Collection
This collection is filled with comic books, storybooks, well-known series and non-fiction books that children love.
HOW TO SIGN OUT THE RESOURCES
1. Teachers can simply purchase a library membership for a minimal cost. Teacher can select resources by going onto the GP Public Library website: www.gppl.ab.ca
2. Return resources in 3 weeks or ask for long term sign out. This amounts to 6 weeks.
3. If you want to keep the resource even longer, you can call in after 3 weeks and have it renewed. You are allowed to do this one more time. In all, you can have the resource in your classroom for twelve full weeks before having to physically return it to the library. Please ensure that all resources are returned will all the original contents inside of them, especially the kits. If anything is missing, please let Donna Mostowy know.
4. You may put a hold on items that you would like. If an item you have has a hold on it, you will have to renew it.
5. Teachers and community members from outside of Grande Prairie may also borrow the material through the inter-library loan system which is Alberta-wide.

COURIER SERVICE FOR RESOURCES
- Teacher can select resources by going onto the GP Public Library website
- Search under: French language resource project for all French resources available.
- Select the resources and send a fax attention to Pam Chislett (library fax number: 538-4983)
- Donna will box up the resources
- Call or e-mail Donna at donnamostowy@pwsd76.ab.ca or 780-296-2500 and she will pick up the resources at the library and bring them to PWSD Central Office.
- On Tuesday mornings, the delivery truck will deliver the materials to the respective schools. (This will apply to picking up the material as well.)
