23/03/2020 11:21 AM: There is currently a very high volume of requests at the GP Library, please have patience as they try to keep up with the demand.
17/03/2020 3:48 PM:The courier service has now been cancelled! We will no longer be able to send resources by their courier system.
I hope that the recent changes haven’t resulted in too much chaos for any of you, in any case I have a small update that might answer some of your questions about our resources.
I was at the library this morning and was able to gather more details on how the library is intending to proceed.
As you may already know, the Grande Prairie Public Library is currently closed until further notice. Any books can be returned via the outside book drop which can be found outside near the main entrance, but no public are able to enter the building at this time and they are asking patrons to hold on to larger items, such as kits and games.
The library has decided to take care of any fees incurred during this time so that you can take care of yourself and your families. Furthermore, they are extending the loaning period for many items, so I went ahead and extended the loan period for all of the Centre’s resources until the 21st of April. If the library is still not open at that time, I will continue to renew any items that come due.
As for holds and interlibrary loans; as of right now the GP library is still receiving and sending out courier, so items on hold will continue to be sent out to other libraries (you can place holds here: http://catalogue.tracpac.ab.ca/polaris/). As for picking those items up, each of you will have to contact your local library or school to see if they have closed their doors and how they are planning to handle the holds. The Grande Prairie Library, has put curbside pickup in place for items currently held there. As a teacher, you may be able to have the items sent straight to the school you work at, if that school’s library is a part of the TRAC Libraries loaning system.
If you appreciate the services, the Grande Prairie Library provides and would like to support them during this time through donations, they would greatly appreciate it! Any donation over $10 can be claimed on your taxes.
If you have any questions concerning the FLRC collection, don’t hesitate to give me (Stephanie 780-296-2500) or Diana (780-532-9276 ex: 5007) a call!
